I am in a bit of a slump, where I am not motivated by any costume on my to-do list. So I decided to make a funny “gingerbread maid” costume for Dutch X-Mas Con next month. Nothing complicated, just a stash-busting project using fabrics, trims, and patterns I had.

I used a Burda dirndl pattern for the costume. The embroidery pattern comes from Urban Threads. There’s METERS of plaid ruffle at the hem of the skirt, let me tell ya. METERS. It took me at least 2 hours to cut, assemble, pleat, and finish the ruffle only.

And with some scraps, I made a small bag using a pattern from Vogue Patterns. The appliques patterns come from Urban Threads too!

Now, here’s to hoping this will bring a bit of a smile on my face, and help me out of my slump! 😝
